1. What do you want to have time for on an average Thursday?

Do you want to sleep in and brunch with your partner every Wednesday? Do you want to work 8 hours a day or are 3 plenty? What would feel really good to do? These things are of crucial importance because they help us to…

2. Define success on your own terms

What does success mean to you? What do you want to be able to experience? How will you know when you’re successful?

3. You need to define “on your terms” again and again.

Even when we’ve let go of the standard definitions of success, it’s still very easy to just put random stuff on your bucket list because it seems like everybody else wants location independence (maybe you want to grow roots) or appear on Elephant Journal (maybe you don’t care about guest posting).

As you march down your path, check in with your compass (intuition) every once in a while to make sure that you’re going in the right direction. YOUR direction that is.

And as you’re doing that…

4. Give yourself permission to want what you want.

I for one really want to bake carrot cakes. I want lots of leisure time in my day, and filling it with baking and cooking feels incredibly abundant and freeing to me. Maybe it sounds like dying a slow suburban death to you. Totally cool, we just both gotta make sure that we don’t let each other’s version of success think that our own isn’t good enough.
